TVI Design: Johnny Rockets Website

Johnny Rockets Website. A TVI Idea. – Part 2 of 2

What if Johnny Rockets were to let TVI rebuild their website? Well they haven’t, but we did it anyways–the homepage at least. We decided to address issues that we highlighted in part 1 of our Johnny Rockets website critique.

Check out a fully coded TVI version of the homepage for a new Johnny Rockets website. It may not go anywhere but it at least makes me want a JR burger. We’d have a lot more fun with it if we could!

Credit to Peter Ames for creating this design and coding the HTML/CSS and Jennifer Egan for the animation work. Go team!

  1. The rocket is a nice, I mean NICE touch!

  2. Mahdad says:

Thanks Virginia! We actually had lots of more ideas to get more creative in that part of the site. The rocket was just the start.

  3. Farid says:

Have to admit that the site looks good. Now, how easy is it to make changes to it? is there a Content Managment System that can easily be managed by the business

  4. Mahdad says:

Thanks Farid. The coded page is actually just front end coding of the homepage. If we were to develop the full website we would DEFINITELY implement a CMS but we haven’t really been engaged by Johhnny Rockets on a full project to do that.

  5. Jared says:

I am hungry. I agree, nice job on the rocket animation and the photos are incredible.

  6. Tal says:

Nicely done. I just chipped my tooth trying to eat that burger on the webpage…it looks really tasty.

  7. Jason says:

Wow – graphics on this page are fabulous! The rocket, in particular, layered in front of the burger, is strong enough that it could easily become central to a host of other corporate marketing activities. Highly recognizable, super creative – highly extendible. Awesome work guys!

  8. Bob U. says:

I agree. The rocket gives it that extra touch. Nice job.

  9. Drew says:

Definitely a step up from their current ‘brochureware’. Could you do more to integrate some of their local marketing efforts/campaigns into their website?

  10. Mahdad says:

Thanks Jason. Yeah we could only put so much time with the animation but we were definitely thinking rockets could be further used to propel Johnny Rockets into the future. That whole center area could be used for different campaigns.

The idea was the burger, JR’s main product, being as big as a planet with rockets orbiting it. We’d love to evolve the animations and idea further.

  11. Mahdad says:

Thank you Drew. We’d definitely integrate more if we knew what their local marketing efforts were 🙂

We wanted to integrate Twitter and FB a bit more too but realized we needed to create some custom filtering to display relevant brand conversations on the site and not simply every tweet that mentioned Johnny Rockets. Basically filter out real conversation and engagement from noise.

  12. Jon says:

Great redesign. The burger in the center feels 3D. Feels ready to eat. Huge improvement over their current site – it’s shocking that they don’t feature their product on their home page.

  13. Mike says:

Burgify Me! Site looks luscious. You made it “pop” but obviously seem to be following their style guides. I don’t see why they wouldn’t jump at the chance for TVI to design their site. You should make an equally glamorous milkshake that gets sucked down as visitors hit each page of the site, and when it’s gone they get a redeemable coupon for half-off a shake. Maltify Me!

  14. Benji says:

For me, it’s all about the burger – and the site redesign really draws me in and makes me hungry!

  15. Kasra Pazuki says:

The design really looks YUMMY!!! Food seems to jump of the page. It would help if the old website was also displayed as a comparison. Great job with the rocket.

  16. Mahdad says:

There was a link to the website critique up top which shows the old/current website. Here is the link again: http://www.tvidesigns.com/blog/johnny-rockets-website-critique-part-1-of-2/

  17. Mahsa says:

Wow – that burger makes me HUNGRY for one! Talk about creating a desire! Good job on maiking it so fresh and realistic looking!

  18. Mahdad says:

Oh there is so much we could do! Yeah we could have a lot of fun with milkshakes and their other items and tie it into promotions. People always want to try something for free or half off. Promotions should be a huge component of a new site.

  19. David levine says:

Meat is murder. Ha ha, seriously, nice job fun for the eyeballs

  20. sudi Jan says:

There is nothing like Johnny Rocket Burgers and yes TVI seems to capture the taste in their creative images. Very enticing!

  21. Felix says:

Great goods from you, man. I have take into account your
stuff previous to and you are simply too wonderful. I actually like what you’ve acquired right here, certainly like what you are stating and the way in which through which you say it. You’re making it entertaining and you still take care of to stay it wise.
I cant wait to learn much more from you. This is actually a
    wonderful website.
